Our team still remembers the first meeting we had about Carlos.
He owned a growing logistics company in Texas. Regional freight. A few trucks on the road. A small dispatch team. Real operations, real revenue. The business itself wasn’t the problem.
The plan was.
Carlos already had a business plan. It had been prepared by another firm and, on the surface, it looked fine. Clean formatting. Confident language. Big numbers. Nice pictures. Everyone involved wanted it to work.
Carlos’s attorney was the one who suggested bringing us in.
He had worked with Marco and our team for years and, given the level of scrutiny cases are facing today, wanted an honest assessment before submitting the visa petition. With adjudication standards clearly higher, he wanted to be sure the plan could stand up to heightened scrutiny.
When Carlos first heard that we might need to write a new plan, he didn’t understand why.
From his perspective, the plan already existed. Money had been spent. Time had been invested. And no one had told him there was anything wrong with it.
So we walked him through it.
Line by line, we started pointing out things he hadn’t noticed before. Revenue increases that jumped ahead of signed contracts. Staffing that scaled faster than operational capacity. Expense assumptions that didn’t reflect how logistics businesses actually function day to day.
None of these issues screamed “wrong” at first glance. But together, they created inconsistencies an adjudicator would almost certainly question.
Once Carlos saw it, the hesitation disappeared.
He realized the plan wasn’t telling the same story his business was actually living. It sounded ambitious, but it wasn’t defensible.
That’s when we rebuilt it.
We grounded the projections in real benchmarks. We slowed growth to match how freight contracts actually roll in. We aligned hiring with operational reality. And we rewrote the narrative so every number had a clear explanation behind it.
Carlos let go of the numbers he had grown attached to. Not because we told him to, but because he understood why.
The final plan didn’t try to impress. It made sense.
And that’s what allowed the case to move forward.
Sometimes the hardest part isn’t fixing the plan. It’s helping the client see what’s quietly working against them.
